Voted recently as Chicago’s Hot Spot, we decided to try this hip, new Mexican Restaurant for ourselves. Mercadito is located in the heart of River North at 108 W. Kinzie, and is jam packed with energy. The menu is extensive and represents authentic & fresh Mexican cuisine with a twist. As a result, we tried just about everything on the menu and were not disappointed. Our highly recommended dishes include the assorted Ceviches, Pork Carnitas and Organic Skirt Steak Tacos. Unfortunately, they have some growing pains that need to be worked out – overwhelmed servers, forgotten orders, and noisy surroundings. But we left feeling pretty excited that we found another winner for our guests to try.

A big welcome to our December chicklet, Emily! Emily has lived in or around Chicago most of her life and it is here she honed her culinary tastes. Whether it be a burger in a dive bar or a 9 course tasting menu, Emily has always been willing to try new & exciting dishes. Some of her favorite Chicago locales include Schwa, Opera, LaScarola and Coast. Emily maintains a bucket list of restaurants she wants to try and is constantly adding new ones.
